Most common rejection reasons

  1. 1
    Bangs over the eyes
A photo where long bangs hide the eyes is unsuitable. Pin hair back so both eyes are clearly visible.
  2. 2
Hair the same tone as the background
If hair and background are close in colour, the outline is hard to see and you may be asked to retake the photo.
  3. 3
    A mirrored selfie
Phone cameras can flip the image left to right, and a flipped photo is unsuitable. Check the file is not mirrored.
  4. 4
    Retouched or filtered images
Editing the eyes, nose or face outline, or applying image processing, makes the photo unsuitable.
  5. 5
A chair or object behind you
Chairs or other items in the background are not accepted. Stand in front of a plain wall.

Snap2Pass never edits your face. It replaces the background and crops the photo to size, nothing else.

Also worth knowing

  • Rule change · since Jul 2026
Passport fees were cut on 1 July 2026

The national part of the adult 10-year passport fee was halved. Check the current amount with your prefecture before you apply, because the prefecture part is set locally.
