Print at Home
If you have a photo printer, you can print immediately:
- Paper: Use glossy or matte photo paper (4x6 or letter size). Regular copy paper will be rejected.
- Settings: Print at actual size / 100% — do not scale to fit. Disable any auto-cropping or borderless printing adjustments.
- Quality: Set to highest quality / best photo mode
- Cut: Use a paper cutter (not scissors) for clean edges. Each photo must be exactly 2x2 inches.
Paper Requirements
The US State Department requires photos printed on photo-quality paper. Acceptable types:
- Glossy photo paper (most common)
- Matte photo paper
- Semi-gloss / satin photo paper
Not accepted: regular printer paper, cardstock, or inkjet paper without a photo coating. When in doubt, use the glossy 4x6 paper available at any pharmacy or office supply store.
